The PSS 4000 industrial Ethernet switches from Pilz enable network topology to be adapted flexibly to the plant layout. Star, tree and ring topologies are available as architectures. Both the availability and the expanse of the network can be increased. PSSnet SLL switches are suitable for smaller networks, while PSSnet SHL switches enable larger networks and are also equipped with management functions. These switches provide extensive diagnostic options. If communication is interrupted at one point in the ring, an alternative communication path is activated via a standby cable, so that data can still be passed within the ring topology. The switches also have fiber-optic ports. This medium enables long distances of more than 30 km to be bridged between two switches.
